  • A walk through audit involving identification of significant hazards, reporting, and recommendations of suitable and practical control measures. This can include actively identifying what can be seen, such as trailing cables across a floor, blocked fire exits, dangerous or wrong operation of equipment, improper storage of fuel and exposed pegs, hooks or bolts on temporary structures or marquees. (A walkthrough Audit can be an ongoing activity through the entire duration of an event to provide a Safety Officer Function) Or
  • A management audit of systems and processes, including those associated with hazard identification and control. This will involve a degree of foresight about what is the worst that could happen, and planning against such eventualities.
 
Health and Safety auditing is the most effective and reliable way of knowing whether best practice standards and procedures are being applied. It will also enable improvements to policy, standards and procedures in the light of new requirements, ensuring that:
 
  • hazards are identified and dealt with at the earliest opportunity,
