Red Badge are searching for great people to join them in roles from large events to shopping centres. In our quest to find more cool people to work for our company, we asked Dan Fenton what he loves about working for Red Badge.
— Tell us about your role? —
I work in many roles at Red Badge from being a security guard, custodian, visitor host, corporate guard, team leader, to now as an Event Team Leader.
I have also worked as a Team Leader at Westfield Albany when Red Badge first won the contract.
As a custodian working for Red Badge I received the award for Security Guard of the Year in 2016.
— What would you miss most if you had to move on from Red Badge? —
Red Badge for me is like family. I enjoy what I do but most importantly I enjoy working with the people around me.
If I were to leave Red Badge (which I don’t plan to anytime soon) I would not only miss the opportunity of working in great events but would miss those who I work with including management, our staff, and our clients.
— What is the funniest thing that has happened to you on the job? —
There are many great stories to tell as we all have a laugh at the end of the day.
In our line of work you must always have a sense of humour so you can be witty to a drunk patron who calls you a rude word for stopping his drunk mates from having adult cuddles in the toilet.
On this occasion I confused the almost drunk patron by saying “stop trying to push me, you must be an xxx for calling me an xxx”.
He was stunned and did not know what to say after this and was quiet for the rest of the night, even shaking my hand and apologising for his behaviour when leaving.
