Security with purpose, since 1997

Red Badge was founded in 1997 with a simple but ambitious belief: security could be better. Better for customers. Better for the public. Better for the people doing the work.

From day one, we set out to challenge what security was expected to look like — moving away from intimidation and anonymity, and toward professionalism, trust, and human connection. That belief still shapes everything we do today.

Nearly three decades on, Red Badge has grown into one of New Zealand’s largest and most respected security providers, trusted to protect some of the country’s most critical environments — from stadiums and major events to retail centres, infrastructure projects, government facilities, and public spaces.

Powered by people. Designed to make a difference.

Our story began in events, where the importance of judgement, calm presence, and customer experience is impossible to ignore. Those early years shaped our DNA and set the standard for how we operate across all our services today.

As our customers’ needs evolved, so did we. What started as event security expanded into guarding, mobile patrols, and 24/7 monitoring, supported by training, systems, and leadership designed to deliver consistency at scale — without losing the human touch that defines us.

Today, Red Badge is a proudly New Zealand‑owned and operated organisation, with national reach and strong local teams embedded in the communities we serve. Our people are at the heart of everything we do, and always have been.

Our behaviours

Customer first, always

We design solutions around real needs, building partnerships based on understanding, trust, and shared outcomes.

Excellence in every moment

From frontline delivery to training and systems, we hold ourselves to high standards and sweat the details that others overlook.

Own it, grow from it

We take responsibility for outcomes, learn from experience, and continuously improve — as individuals and as a team.

Celebrating our successes

We recognise the effort, progress, and milestones that strengthen our culture and fuel pride in what we do.

Security is evolving. So are we.
